
Oliver's Fruit Salad & 10 Red Apples
We have enjoyed a busy last week of this half-term. We all enjoyed the story of 'Oliver's Fruit Salad', explored different fruits and made own fruit kebabs which we enjoyed at snack time. A few children tried fruits that they had never eaten before so we were very proud of them for exploring new foods and discovering new favourites! The Hungry Caterpillar 🐛..... and a ‘Royal Celebration’ 🤴👸
This week we have enjoyed the story of 'The Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. We looked at the life-cycle of a butterfly and used props to re-tell the story in small groups. We had a go at making our own books, drawing and counting different types of fruit on each page. Our thoughts focused on the Royal Wedding towards the end of the week. Growing and exploring
We were excited to see how much our runner beans had grown over the weekend! We measured them using cubes and rulers and compared our beans to see whose was the tallest. We planted them outside our nursery so we can continue to watch them grow together. We used natural materials to practice our counting and sorting skills. Vegetables
This week we have enjoyed looking at different vegetables and used our senses to explore them. We have worn our chef's outfits and carefully chopped onions, celery, potatoes and mushrooms and made our own soup! Many children tried the soup at snack-time, some coming back for seconds! We also used vegetables dipped in paint and produced some fantastic 'vegetable people' who were given some great names. We introduced the children to the balancing scales and estimated which vege
