This week we have explored what it means to be healthy. We have talked about different foods and decided if they were 'healthy or unhealthy?'. We talked about food and drink which contain a lot of salt or sugar and agreed we should only have these occasionally. What a great week we have had! Thank you to PC Jennings for coming to talk to us all about your job and for letting us try on your hat and sit in your car! What the Ladybird Heard 🐞👂🏼
This week, we read the story of 'What the Ladybird Heard' by Julia Donaldson. We acted out the story using stick puppets and played ‘night sounds music’ as we tip-toed around quietly, pretending to be Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len. The children were very interested in the idea of a map and many children chose to draw their own map and hide 'treasure' around nursery! Planting seeds!
We have had a busy start to the term, developing our new digging area, planting area 🌱 and vegetable patch 🍅! So far we have planted radishes, courgettes, mini cucumbers, tomatoes, beans and leeks. We have explored different seed types and tried to guess the size of the seed by shaking the sealed seed packet and listening to the sound it made 🤔 Some of the children noticed the strong smell of the compost as well as a more pleasant scent from the tomato plants.
