Miss Polly had a Dolly

As our nursery rhyme this week has been Miss Polly had a Dolly we have turned our role play area as a Doctors Surgery.

Lots of dressing up, taking temperatures, bandaging arms and having great fun. We have talked about how doctors help us when we feel poorly and looked at some instruments and items that might be in a doctors medical bag.

We have been using scissors to cut out pictures of items a doctor might have in their medical bags. We have displayed some in the classroom.

As Elijah's mummy is a nurse we asked her if she would come and visit us in Nursery and talk about her work. She brought in lots of different things to look at including a stethoscope, a blood pressure monitor, some blood she had made to show us red and white blood cells. We used bandages and plasters. We had a great time and learnt a lot.

We have also talked about how we would look after a baby, how we have to be kind and gentle, talking about what babies like to drink. Then we bathed some babies using soap and flannels, making sure we dried them properly.

We had Mega Movers in on Wednesday this week and we explored different ways of dancing with bells, scarves, sparkly pom poms and rainbow ribbons. We talked about how our bodies felt after we had been exercising.

We have had such a busy and fun week so far.
