Time is speeding up, if only I had Hermione's time turner to stop time and get everything done!
Christmas has well and truly hit the Ark... The children have their own Christmas trees to decorate, and redecorate, and redecorate... Those 'classy' 80s foil streamers are up and twinkling... Festive cheer is everywhere!
Friday saw the Homefield annual "Decoration Day". It was fantastic to see so many of you attend. We appreciate that it can be tricky to take time off work, or to come back with your child just for the decoration sessions, but we hope that you really enjoyed yourselves and that it was nice and chilled and not stressful. For Mrs B and I, it was lovely to have you in and to spend a few minutes chatting to you all whilst you had some quality time with your child, and to showcase some of our developing talents. Thanks once again for your time and kind words (it means a lot!).
Next week is going to be one of the busiest for Mrs B and I. Here's why-
Wednesday 4th Dec: Christmas Dinner Day
Dress rehearsal for our nativity
Anna Poppy's Army charity disco
Thursday 5th Dec: Morning performance of Mary's Knitting - 10:15am
Afternoon performance of Mary's Knitting - 2:15 pm
Friday 6th Dec: Transform the Ark into Santa's Grotto (with the PTA)
Don't forget that the Christmas Fayre is a time for the school to come together, but to also raise vital funds for school. Santa will be there and we have the holiday for 6 raffle with all monies being donated to Anna Poppy's Army. Thank you to EVERYONE who has contributed to this worthy cause. You guys are AMAZING!
And within all that, we need to rehearse, finish our handprint clay decorations for you to purchase at the Christmas Fayre, try and do the other 'normal' stuff.... hee hee! Please be patient if we look tired or confused ;) But it is all part of the fun and we want to see lots of happy tears from you all during our nativity performances!
This week we have reached number 5 in our Number of the Week. As it is a busy week and to see how well we have learnt to recognise the first five numerals, we shall concentrate on matching quantities to numerals up to 5. We will assess the children on their number recognition in the next few weeks and use this to establish whether we revisit any numbers already taught, or if we return after Christmas and pick up at number 6. Thank you to everyone who has chosen to take part and use the optional number homework. We enjoy seeing them on Tapestry and also the children's excitement when they see that number in the classroom...those numbers are now getting everywhere! On the walls, on the telephones and in books! ;) We hope you are also experiencing these "WOW" moments of "Look, there's a number...!"
Those who could not attend Decoration Day...never fear, we will make nativity crowns with you!
If ALL children taking part in the nativity could please bring a plain top and trousers/leggings/ to match the animal they have chosen. PLEASE DON'T STRESS and certainly DO NOT BUY AN OUTFIT!!! :D Daddy's black t-shirt turned inside out is perfect for a cow or donkey etc. The best part of the Nativity is how simple it can be kept but how powerful and magical (and tear jerking!) it is!
Remember, any probs/concerns, come and see Mrs B or I. We don't bite...and I doubt you will have a concern or question I have not had before. Though we could start a competition hee hee!
