Christmas hits The Ark

2020 has been a funny old year... but Christmas has come early to The Ark! An elf, now known as Elfie, has arrived from Lapland and is creating havoc with his mischievous ways...so far he has appeared in his self-isolation hub, written on the windows with paint!!!(which is how we know his name), scaled the Christmas tree and this morning was caught in the dolls house bath having a bubble bath! He has even sent another video message as has SANTA! Elfie is certainly updating Santa on the children (and adults!) at The Ark! Who knows what will happen next..?!

On Friday 30th November we hosted our annual Christmas Decoration Day...except no parents this year :(

We made the best of it with Christmas music and Christmas crafts. Christmas has continued into this week with us learning about animals from cold places (especially reindeers!) and has led to us making footprint reindeer Christmas cards! They look amazing!

Our handprint elf decorations are nearing the final stages of completion! Look at how well they have been decorated. We will show a finished product next week!

This week has also seen us learning our new Number of the Week...number five! We have enjoyed lots Hi Fives and ways to explore five including our friend El Nombre! We will hold off on our numbers from next week so that we have time to consolidate our learning and focus on matching these numerals to objects/pictures, and also to explore patterns.

Our Elmers are either now at home or on display! What a difference lots of colourful Elmers make to our Nursery!

And on top of ALL that fun and learning, we have reintroduced our Reading Advent Calendar! So on each session a child's name is drawn from our advent calendar and they then choose a wrapped Christmas story from the Santa's sack. The lucky person gets to unwrap their story and we all share a fab Christmas story! So far we have had: Santa Needs a Wee, Sproutzilla vs Christmas, Snow and Dave's Christmas Cracker, What will be next?!

And finally... this week saw our Christmas Dinner...for some, their first lunch at Nursery. We had crackers, Christmas table cloths, yummy-scrummy Christmas lunches prepared by our fabulous kitchen ladies, Christmas tunes and Miss G as an elf! 21 children- an Ark record I believe!

See you soon for next week's news!

Ho ho ho

Miss G x
