Teacher-led vs Daycare

We often tell people that we are a teacher-led nursery but we rarely explain the benefits of this. So here goes -

We think that the benefits include:

  • The lead teacher in the nursery is a graduate with either a degree in education or a PGCE, and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Your child will benefit from the vast knowledge base that a teacher brings to the class.

  • Your child will take part in daily English and Maths sessions, which focus on fun and exciting ways to learn the basics. This includes sounds, numbers and name writing.

  • Every day your child will take part in focused adult led development activities - this ensures that progress is closely monitored.

  • Being taught by a teacher will prepare your child for what is to come when they move on to their Reception class.

  • Research has shown that children in a teacher led nursery make better progress.

  • Research also shows that the gap between disadvantaged children and non-disadvantaged children is lower when taught by a teacher.

  • Our teachers have access to a wealth of knowledge and skills within the main school - including support for educational needs such as speech development.

  • Inside our teacher-led nursery we are proud that our staff can dedicate their time to educating our children, so we would prefer that our Nursery children are toilet trained before they join us. However, we fully understand that this may not always be the case and that children of that young age have accidents from time to time or have additional needs, which we are more than prepared for.
